TwitBox 0.8.2 is a great Desktop App…worth trying

A friend of mine recommended that I should give TwitBox a try since I frequently use Twitter.

The app is downloaded as a zip file. It doesn’t have an installer. You just put it anywhere you want. I put mine in the usual place for all software in the Program Files folder.

The app requires .NET2 Framework installed in your machine.

The interface of it is great, it has a lot of shortcuts and you don’t need to remember them, there is a keyboard short window that displays all the possible shortcuts. Right Clicking on a particular tweet gives you alot of options on what to do (such as seeing the person’s twitter page, copy their message etc)

It has sound notification for all the new tweets or also sound notification for tweets that is intended for you which I find it really cool.

It is fast to launch and close, it doesn’t use much memory at all.

Installed GoogleDesktop on Ubuntu….Windows becoming less dependent

After hearing that a Google Desktop version of Linux was available, I decided to try it out in Ubuntu Fiesty Fawn.

Installing it was very simple and quick. (for people trying it to install on Ubuntu this is the best link on how to install it. GoogleDesktop On Ubuntu)

After giving it time to fully index my harddrives, it was ready to be used.

It is just as good as the one on windows. As far as I know there are no google gadgets available, but since google search made it to Linux, its a matter of time gadgets will be available for it.
